Easy PC TV

Received an e-mail offering this gadget the other day. It's basically a Digital TV box for your PC or laptop that comes in the form of a small USB dongle! Available here for less than £40 including delivery and includes 10 free blank DVD's.

A couple of people at work were interested so we ordered, and they arrived today. I have to say I'm well impressed :o).....

It's a doddle to set-up and the quality is superb. The aerial that comes with it is good enough to pick up all the freeview channels and the remote is a nice touch. I've had it running on my laptop all afternoon in the office, which is somewhere I would have never expected to get reception.

It has a 7 day electronic program guide, digital teletext and can also record 2 channels at once. It's obviously fully portable and would be ideal for someone that spends a lot of time in the car or on a train (Ross / Pinar - any use?).

I'm on a course all week hence the lack of posts! It's a Microsoft Exchange course at the usual training centre, but this time the instructor is South African. Yes the accent is strange, but i've actually found him easier to listen too, and more interesting than the usual trainers. (of course i had to sneak a pic!).

CONGRATULATIONS to Ian and Sarah on the birth of their first child. Baby boy, born at 16.28 today weighing 5lb 10oz. Mother and baby doing fine. No confirmation on name as yet. An added happy feature is that that today is also Ian's birthday! You'll never forget your 33rd Ian ;-)

Weekend Away

As part of Maff's Birthday present (see previous post), a group of us went to stay at Woodhill Country House in Otterburn. It's basically a huge country home on the outskirts of a small village in rural Northumberland. The house had everything we could possibly have asked for and then some! We got there at around Friday lunchtime, and after a quick tour, the lads all piled down to the local pub in Ian's 'Venga Bus', whilst the girls made themselves at home. It was during this time that the snow started and helped make the pics all that more picturesque!
We all sat round the massive dining table in the evening for a meal and more drinks. As the night wore on and everyone got more drunk, the girls made a dash for the hot tub! Lee and I cottoned on to this and quickly joined them, followed by everyone else. Yep at one point there were 12 people in there!! I made the mistake however of taking my digicam! After taking the group timer shot, there was a 'plop' as the camera fell in the water!! That's that knackered. Later in the evening Mark and Cathryn arrived for the weekend.
Next day (Mark's Birthday) after a bleary start, and a cracking breakfast the remaining guests arrived - Anne, Graham and Cheryl, as well as Maff and Kelly's parents to take the kids off their hands. Once the kids had gone and we'd had more food, everyone piled down to the pub again. About 5 hours, and £360(!) later it was time for another druken night of food and drink at the house.
Everyone left at around Sunday lunchtime, and I can safely say a cracking time was had by all. It was something totally different and exactly what we needed to start our week off work with a bang!!
