Went to the John Smiths Northumberland Plate Race Festival at Newcastle Racecourse last Saturday. Had a cracking day and I've just Flickr'd the photos if you want a butchers...
It was a bit of a last minute decision to go, and even then we were being picky and only wanted tickets for the Premier enclosure, - Thanks for sorting us out with that extra ticket Ross.
The weather was absoloutely scorching and although everyone was suited and booted and therefore sweating like an eejit, it really does make for a much more enjoyable day when the weather's good.
I don't really know the first thing about horse racing but I tuned into the Morning Line on Channel 4 on Saturday morning and made a note of their tips. When it came to betting on the races Jen picked one at random that she liked the sound of, then I used the Morning Line tip for my choice. The system worked amazingly well (especially compared to last year!), and we ended up with 4 winners and 2 second places which wasn't bad for a days work!!
Later in the day, Jen and Kelly blagged their way into the Corporate tents where we ended up with a cracking view of the England v Portugal game. In fact it would have been the perfect end to a really good day if only the football result had gone our way :o(
